Mila Northrup started writing songs at eight, though she'll be the first to say the early ones don't really count. The real ones came at thirteen. By seventeen, she had enough to share. She grew up a little obsessed with eras she wasn't born into — rotary phones, CD players, music that felt worn-in already — and that never really went away. It's in everything she makes. Drawing from artists like Billie Eilish and After, she self-produces, plays guitar and piano, and treats each release like its own world to build out, down to the visuals and mood boards. Her songs are diary-close. Honest in a way that tends to make people feel like she's writing about them too.
